Selangor to spend RM76 mln in creating 15,000 jobs next year

SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — A total of RM76 million is allocated in the 2021 Selangor Budget to create 15,000 jobs to reduce the rising numbers of unemployment.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said as of July this year, the number of those out of jobs in the country has risen drastically to 745,000 people, which is the highest in 30 years.

“In an effort to reduce the rising number of unemployed, the state government will implement several initiatives with RM76 million allocation from Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) and Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (PNSB),” said Amiruddin while tabling the budget today.

Among the initiatives are:

1. Selangor Jobs (Selangor Kerjaya) initiative to create 10,000 jobs for the Industrial 4.0 businesses through developing new skills, upskilling and reskilling

2. Selangor Automotive Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) or Selangor Automotive TVET initiative to match 3,000 TVET automotive graduates with automotive workshops in Selangor

3. Selangor Digital Friends (Rakan Digital Selangor) initiative to appoint 1,000 ambassadors help spread the use of digitalisation application throughout the state

4. Selangor Freelancers initiative to create awareness for those who lost their job, inexperienced graduates who cannot find jobs, and housewives to find alternative incomes.
