Two pet shop workers in PJ, 1 Utama positive for Covid-19

SHAH ALAM, Oct 21 — A pet store chain in Selangor has confirmed two of its workers have been infected with Covid-19.

In a statement on Facebook today, Petsmore Sdn Bhd said one employee at its SS2 Petaling Jaya branch and another at the 1Utama Shopping Mall outlet were tested positive on October 19 and October 20 respectively.

“We had proceeded to close our Petsmore SS2 and Petsmore One Utama store immediately for a thorough cleaning and sanitization exercise in accordance with procedures.

“Our stores will remain temporarily closed until further notice with a fresh new team,” the statement read.

The company management added that the remaining staff members have been tested negative but will be undergoing the 14-day self-quarantine.

Yesterday, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah informed that the 1 Utama mall was clear of the virus.

The shopping mall had reopened to the public on October 17 after it was closed for a week following the detection of Covid-19 cases.

The Utama cluster, which is the largest active cluster in Selangor and had spread to six generations, has recorded a total of 194 cases as of yesterday.
