Using “lastik” on elderly woman proves costly for two youths

BACHOK, Oct 7 — Two youths found out the hard way that you cannot use a “lastik” (a slingshot/catapult) to hurt others.

Mohammad Roslan Abdullah,18, and Muhammad Aziman Peli, 25, today had to face Magistrate Mohd Dinie Shazwan Ab Shukor at the Bachok Magistrate’s Court for using the implement against Wan Bidah Wan Deraman, 67, at 8.10pm on Thursday at the Kampung Banggol Pauh road junction here.

The elderly woman suffered injury in her left wrist due to their rash action.

Both the accused pleaded guilty and were allowed bail at RM3,000 each in surety each pending sentencing on November 5 and also completion of a behaviour report on Mohammad Roslan.

The duo are liable to be jailed up to a year or fined RM2,000 or both.
