SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — The Selangor state government has today contributed vehicles and safety equipment to the authorities in the state to support the Federal administration in its efforts to contain the Covid-19 outbreak.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said 18 electric bicycles and eight jet skis were given to the Selangor police contingent to aid them in offshore surveillance along the state coastlines to prevent intrusions of illegal immigrants across the Malaysian borders.

“The contribution of the vehicles totalling RM1.15 million will operate via a buddy formation system and will begin operations on November 1,” he said in a statement today.

Amirudin said the state administration has also supplied healthcare equipment to the Selangor Prison Department as part of its efforts in managing the spread of the infection in the state prisons.

The equipment includes 100 units of personal protective equipment (PPE) suits, 500 face shields, 300 pair of gloves, 200 (medical) gowns, 500 face masks, 500 bottles of sanitizer and 200 aprons.

“We hope these contributions would go a long way towards assisting the National Security Council in their efforts to ensure the safety and health of the people and we wish the very best for the police and Prison Department,” he added.
