SHAH ALAM, Oct 21 — Water supply has been restored to 83 per cent of the 1,292 areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur that were hit by the recent disruption.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) in a statement said a total 1,077 areas have had their water supply restored as at 6am today, while 215 others are still in the process.

It said the percentage of recovery in the affected areas is at 99 per cent in Kuala Selangor, Petaling (94 per cent), Kuala Lumpur (89 per cent), Gombak (71 per cent), Klang/Shah Alam (54 per cent), and Kuala Langat (50 per cent).

“Air Selangor has maximised its efforts to restore water supply to the affected users… water supply is expected to be fully restored at 8am on October 22 (tomorrow),” the statement read.

Meanwhile, Air Selangor had assured consumers that their treated water has undergone a quality test that adheres to the standards set by the Health Ministry and their compliance is verified by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).

It had reminded that those who had received their water supply are advised to use it wisely to ensure no interruption to the current restoration process to the still affected areas.

Users were also advised to leave their taps running until the water becomes clear before using it.

A total of 1,196,457 users in 1,292 areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were hit by an unscheduled water supply disruption on Monday after the operation of the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2, 3 and Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plants had to stop following a river pollution incident detected at 2am.

More information on the latest water supply recovery status in affected areas is accessible via Air Selangor’s official social media channels via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin and Air Selangor’s smartphone application as well as its website at www.airselangor.com.
