CMCO in Tongkang Pecah, Batu Pahat from Nov 29-Dec 13 — Ismail Sabri

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 —  A conditional movement control order (CMCO) will be implemented in Tongkang Pecah, Batu Pahat, Johor, from Sunday (November 29) until December 13, says Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the decision was made following a presentation from the Health Ministry (MOH) on the current situation of Covid-19 in the area which had recorded 56 Covid-19 positive cases so far.

“To date, MOH has conducted 672 screenings and 56 positive cases were recorded in this area. At the same time, there are 302 screening samples still pending an outcome,” he said in his press conference on Covid-19 here today.

Ismail Sabri said the CMCO in Tongkang Pecah would involve 16,300 residents in four areas, namely Bandar Putera Indah, Lorong 7 to 10, Batu 7 and Kampung Mohd Nor.

He said the implementation of the CMCO would also enable the MOH to carry out targeted screenings and help reduce movements among the community in the area.

He said the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the CMCO was the same as announced previously for other areas, and more information could be obtained from the National Security Council’s (NSC) website.

Ismail Sabri also announced the extension of operating hours for daily markets in CMCO areas, namely from 10am to 4pm, effective tomorrow, after heeding the grouses of traders.

“Previously, daily markets in CMCO areas could only operate from 10am to 2pm, in fact, customers also appealed to be given more time to make purchases, so we added two hours, ensuring that Rela members were assigned to control the market area so that the SOPs are complied with,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said that the CMCO in Kuching, Sarawak, which began on November 9, had ended as scheduled today after the MOH confirmed the active Covid-19 cases in the district were on the decline and under control.

Regarding compliance, he said the police had arrested 308 individuals for violating the SOPs, with the highest number of offences recorded for not wearing face masks, followed by failing to provide temperature screening and sanitisation facilities or recording personal details of visitors.
