Covid-19: 175 new cases in Selangor, Klang highest with 53 cases

SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — Selangor has today recorded 175 new Covid-19 cases with 174 new local infections and one imported case, out of the 1,109 new daily cases recorded nationwide.

The imported case was registered in Klang.

“Sabah today recorded the highest new daily cases with 441 cases (39.8 per cent), whereby 346 cases (78.5 per cent) are from existing clusters and close-contact tracing of positive Covid-19 cases that were carried out at the airport.

“This is followed by Selangor with 175 new cases (15.8 per cent) and Negeri Sembilan with 167 infections (15.1 per cent),” said Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah during a press conference on the Covid-19 developments in the country, in Putrajaya today.

“Out of the 175 new cases reported in Selangor today, 99 were from existing clusters, 47 cases from close-contact screenings, one imported case from overseas and 28 others were from other Covid-19 screenings,” he said.

According to the data by the Selangor State Health Department’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), the Klang recorded the highest new daily infections with 52 cases, followed by Kuala Langat and Petaling, both recording 34 new cases each, Hulu Langat (29), Gombak (12), Sepang (7) and Kuala Selangor (6).

Both Sabak Bernam and Hulu Selangor recorded zero new cases with Sabak Bernam remaining as a green zone in the state.

As of noon today, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Selangor stands at 13,029 out of the nationwide total 61,861 cases.
