Covid-19: Selangor records 402 new infections

SHAH ALAM, Nov 30 — Selangor has recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in the country at 402 out of the total 1,212 new infections recorded.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 308 of the cases in Selangor were from existing clusters and close contact screening.

“This is followed by 326 cases recorded in Sabah and 141 in Negeri Sembilan,” he said in a press conference on the Covid-19 situation in Malaysia broadcasted live today.

Dr Noor Hisham said out of the total new cases recorded in Selangor, 213 were from clusters, 95 from close contact screening, 90, from other testings. He said the state also saw four imported infections.

He said Selangor also saw two new clusters, the Jalan Lapan Cluster with 25 new infections and the Batu Sembilan Cluster recording 19 new cases.

“The Jalan Lapan Cluster involves the Hulu Langat district and Cheras, Kepong, Titiwangsa, and Lembah Pantai in Kuala Lumpur. A total of 306 individuals have been screened.

“The Batu Sembilan Cluster involves the Kuala Langat, Klang, Petaling and Kuala Selangor districts. A total of 83 people were screened,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to the data by the Selangor State Health Department’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), the Klang district tops the list with the highest new daily infections with 228 cases.

This is followed by Hulu Langat with 72 new Covid-19 cases, Petaling (60), Sepang (12). Gombak (12), Kuala Selangor (7) Kuala Langat (4), and Hulu Selangor (3).

Sabak Bernam has recorded no new cases.

As of noon today, the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Selangor stands at 13,935 out of the nationwide total of 65,697 new cases.
