Donation drive for additional nurseries receive overwhelming support

BANTING, Nov 30 — The campaign for the donation of toys to additional nurseries (taska), organised by the Selangor Woman Welfare and Charity Association (Pekawanis) since mid-last month, has received overwhelming support.

Pekawanis president Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad said they even received reading materials from the public for the said nurseries, which were formed for children of the frontliners.

“The campaign is still open. The public can send donations to the Pekawanis office and all items will be distributed to the nurseries.

“Pekawanis has also distributed drawing and colouring tools to the children of the frontliners for their learning materials,” she said after visiting the Banting Hospital’s nursery today.

Masdiana, who is Selangor Menteri Besar’s wife, said during the visit, the group was able to observe the children’s daily activities.

“If the conditional movement control order (CMCO) is extended, we will plan other suitable programmes. The nurseries are welcomed to submit their suggestions,” she said.

In October, the Selangor government had reactivated nine additional nurseries to cater to the children of frontliners throughout the CMCO period.

The nurseries are located at the Sungai Buloh Hospital, Banting Hospital, Selayang Hospital, Kajang Hospital and Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital.
