SHAH ALAM, Nov 4 — A total of 1,024 residents of Flat Sungai Emas in Jalan Emas 31 and Jalan Emas 32, Kuala Langat, have undergone the Covid-19 screening since October 18 until yesterday.

Kuala Langat Land and District officer Mohd Jusni Hashim said the screening involved 97 per cent locals while the rest were foreigners living in the area following the implementation of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

He said out of the total figure, 43 cases were detected positive for Covid-19, 958 were confirmed negative and another 23 are pending results.

“A door-to-door operation was carried out by the Kuala Langat District Health Office in collaboration with the police and the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) personnel to ensure that all individuals undergo screening.

“They (residents) have to go through a daily assessment (Annex-14) and will be released (Annex-17) upon expiration of the quarantine period. Individuals are only allowed to leave the house if they have Annex-17,” he said when contacted.

In the same development, he said his team had distributed food baskets donated by the state government to 338 houses in the area on October 30.

He said the affected residents in the EMCO zone were also assisted by several NGOs and individuals to ease their burden.

“Besides that, the Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan (PPK) Kuala Langat offers services to the residents by opening mobile shops in the EMCO zone which operates two days a week from 8am to 2pm,” he said.

Flat Sungai Emas in Kuala Langat was placed under the EMCO effective from October 28 to November 10 following the increase in Covid-19 infections in the area.
