HSA to investigate medical officer over tweet insulting cancer patient

JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 20 — The Sultan Aminah Hospital (HSA) here has set up a special committee to investigate a medical officer over his vulgar tweet insulting a cancer patient recently.

HSA director Dr Mokhtar Pungut @ Ahmad in a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Johor State Health Department, yesterday said, the hospital viewed the issue seriously and action would be taken if the allegation is true.

“Regarding the issue that is spreading on social media, the management of HSA Johor Bahru takes the actions of the medical officer seriously.

“In this regard, a special committee at the hospital level has been set up to investigate the issue in detail. If it is found to be true, appropriate action will be taken against the medical officer,” said Dr Mokhtar.

He also apologised on behalf of the HSA Johor Bahru for the offensive statement made by the medical officer that hurt the feelings of the community.

It is believed that the medical officer posted a status on his Twitter using vulgar language following his dissatisfaction over a cancer patient who was referred to the hospital in the early hours.
