Jelajah Selangor Bekerja: 40 employed, 77 to attend second interview

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, Nov 27: Forty participants that have attended job interviews via the Jelajah Selangor Bekerja (Selangor Jobs Exploration 2020) programme were hired by the employers, says the state executive councillor for youth development Mohd Khairuddin Othman.

He said 77 participants will be attending second job interviews. Mohd Khairuddin said he hoped to see the candidates would succeed in landing their new jobs soon.

“We pray that more will succeed. More people had wanted to attend the interviews but we had to limit the number of participants following the directive set by the National Security Council NSC,” he told SelangorKini today.

Mohd Khairuddin said only around 100 candidates could be called up for interviews in compliance with the NSC guidelines to curb the spread of Covid-19.

He said the state government will propose an appeal to the NSC to allow the number of participants based on the size of the event venue.

The Selangor Jobs Exploration 2020 programme by the Selangor state government had received 9,969 applications since the registration opened on September 15.

More than 90 companies have participated in the programme held in five locations starting from Kuala Selangor on November 15, Gombak (November 21), Sungai Buloh (November 22), Hulu Langat (December 29) and Shah Alam (December 5 and 6).

Among the employment opportunities offered include professor, lecturer, Quran tutors, accountant, sales manager, research officer, technician, meter reader, call centre operator, terminal tractor driver, facilitator and store supervisor.
