Luas: Odour detected at Sungai Kundang, no suspension of water treatment plants

SHAH ALAM, Nov 14 — The Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) have detected strong odour near the Saujana residential area in Rawang  around 12am this morning during the Ops Sumber Air.

Luas in a statement on Facebook said there is no suspension of water treatment plants or reports of water supply disruption.

The two agencies took water sampling from Sungai Kundang near the park, which showed a pollution reading of 4 TON (threshold odour number).

“Investigations in the Taman Velox area found that the catchment area next to the drain near the Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) sewage plant had overflowed, suspected from a leak due to heavy rain,” the post read.

Luas and Air Selangor acted swiftly by placing 14 bags of activated carbon at the suspected contaminated areas.

“The IWK management has cleaned up and is taking charge of the area.

“Any development will be informed from time to time,” it stated.
