SHAH ALAM, Nov 22 — The enforcement of the movement control order (MCO) is an effective measure to curb the spread of Covid-19 but its impact on the country’s economy is very severe, says Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He added that even the current enforced conditional MCO had stunted various sectors and fields.
“Therefore all of us (including myself), must abide by the standard operating procedure (SOP), discipline (ourselves) and must be able to adapt to living with Covid-19,” he said via Twitter last night.
Yesterday, the Health Ministry revealed that it had previously proposed the implementation of the MCO in Selangor on October 14 following the spike in Covid-19 cases.
However, its director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they had to change it CMCO because 40 per cent of the country’s economic activities are located in the state.
