SHAH ALAM, Nov 23 — The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) imposed at the Plaza Hentian Kajang, which ends tomorrow, saw 2,622 residents screened for Covid-19.

Hulu Langat District officer Najmuddin Jemain said they were tested between the first and the sixth day after the EMCO started, and 13 per cent of them were tested positive for Covid-19 in the first screening.

“We also conducted targeted screening of close contacts and symptomatic individuals and 24 per cent of them were infected with Covid-19,” he said when contacted.

Najmuddin said the health department would always conduct tests on close contacts when any residents in the area were infected by the coronavirus.

The EMCO was enforced at Plaza Hentian Kajang in Hulu Langat following a sudden rise in Covid-19 cases in the area.

The EMCO started from October 28 and was scheduled to end on November 19 but was extended until tomorrow (November 24).

Yesterday, according to the Selangor State Health Department data, Kajang sub-district recorded an increase of 32 new positive Covid-19 cases with one of them being from close contact screening of the Plaza Hentian Kajang.

Kuala Langat also recorded one case from the Hentian Cluster through screening of workers in Tanjung Dua Belas sub-district.
