Selangor records four-digit Covid-19 daily cases with 1,203 infections

SHAH ALAM, Nov 23 — Selangor has topped the list again as the state recorded 1,203 infections (63.9 per cent), out of the total 1,884 daily Covid-19 cases reported nationwide today.

Sabah recorded the second highest number of new cases at 289 (15.3 per cent), followed by Kuala Lumpur with 196 (10.4 per cent) infections.

“The high number of cases in Selangor is from work-related clusters especially the Teratai Cluster, which recorded 1,067 cases.

“Most of the cases from this cluster involved factory workers from Meru in Klang,” said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today.

He said no imported case was reported in the state.

“Out of the 1,203 (local) cases reported in Selangor today, 1,099 were from existing clusters, 77 cases from close-contact screenings and 27 others identified from other Covid-19 screenings,” he said.

He said a new cluster was detected in Selangor, named the Indah Mas Cluster, with 10 recorded cases.

According to the data by the Selangor Health Department’s Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), Klang district recorded the highest figure with 1,122 cases, followed by Hulu Langat (28), Petaling (25), Sepang (13), Hulu Selangor (6), Gombak and Kuala Langat each with four (4) cases, and Kuala Selangor (1).

Sabak Bernam district remains a green zone with no active cases.

As of noon today, the cumulative figure of coronavirus recorded in Selangor stands at 10,955, out of the total 56,659 cases recorded nationwide.
