Selangor to offer 10,000 tourism vouchers next month

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, Nov 20 — The Selangor state government will be offering 10,000 vouchers for tourism activities in the state worth RM200 each by mid-December.

State executive councillor for tourism Hee Loy Sian said the vouchers will be available via the Touch ‘n’ Go and Lazada e-wallets to be used at hotels and licensed homestay accommodations as well as visits to theme parks in Selangor.

“This initiative is among the state administration’s move to encourage people to travel to Selangor in our bid to resuscitate the tourism sector which has been affected by Covid-19.

“Through our collaboration with Tourism Selangor, the state government is taking all necessary steps to attract domestic tourists because the main important thing is to assist the business operators within this sector,” he said.

Hee said this during a press conference after officiating the Special Incentive for Covid-19 Economic Impact Recovery Package at the Selangor Economic Action Council Meeting Room yesterday.

He said the Tourism Selangor will continue in promoting the ‘Nak Bercuti? Pusing Selangor Dulu’ campaign in 2021.

“The recovery of this sector is focused on efforts to attract local travellers through eco—, agro—, sports, medical tourism and industries,” Hee added.

On July 13, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had announced voucher subsidies worth RM2 million for people to claim for hotels and licenced homestay accommodations and theme parks visits.
