SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — Six fixed patrol stations are being built near the Sungai Selangor and Sungai Semenyih river basins for continuous monitoring of the raw water sources.

State executive councillor for infrastructure and public amenities Izham Hashim said three stations will be placed at Rantau Panjang, Sungai Gong and Sungai Sembah for the Sungai Selangor basin, while another three located at Sungai Pajam, Sungai Beranang and Sungai Semenyih will for the Sungai Semenyih basin.

“We build these stations because we do not want to only rely on patrolling. Right now, there are already two stations placed Sungai Sembah and Sungai Gong,” said Izham during a media briefing on the solution plan to resolve Sungai Selangor and Sungai Semenyih pollution that result in water supply problems here yesterday.

Also present were Selangor executive councillor for environment Hee Loy Sian and Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) acting director cum principal assistant director (River Basin and Coastal Management Division) Haslina Amer.
