Water pollution: Rantau Panjang treatment plant cease operations

SHAH ALAM, Nov 18 — Another river pollution has forced the Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) to shut down operations at the Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plant (WTP) tonight.

“Luas has received a report from the Air Selangor (Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd) regarding odour pollution of an unidentified solvent with a reading of 1 threshold odour number (TON) at the water intake of the Rantau Panjang WTP at 7pm today.

“Following that, operations at the Rantau Panjang WTP was suspended at 7.10pm,” read a Luas statement posted on its social media tonight.

Luas, Air Selangor and other parties are conducting an investigation and launch immediate mitigation actions.

“Any developments will be informed from time to time,” said Luas.
