Water supply expected to resume in stages tomorrow morning

RAWANG, Nov 10 — Users affected by water cuts in seven districts are expected to receive water supply in stages starting tomorrow morning, says Selangor executive councillor for environment Hee Loy Sian.

Hee said the water supply could be resumed if efforts to remove the pollution could be completed by tonight.

“If the work is finished by tonight and the threshold odour number (TON) of the pollution level reads zero, the water treatment plants (WTP) requires some time to process the water as we follow the Health Ministry’s standard.

“However, we will try to start processing the water as soon as possible by tomorrow morning and the residents living nearby (the WTPs) will have their water supply restored first.

“But even if the issue is resolved tonight, it will (still) take 10 hours for the water to reach its first destination,” he said.

Hee told the media this after visiting the Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) sewage treatment plant at Taman Velox here today.

Earlier today, operations at the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2, 3, and the Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plants (WTP) were stopped due to odour pollution detected in Sungai Selangor.

The unscheduled water disruption affects over one million account users in 1,279 in seven districts, namely Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat.
