By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, Dec 9 — A total of 111 jobseekers were hired through the ‘Jelajah Selangor Bekerja 2020’ (Selangor Jobs Exploration 2020) career fair, which ended on Sunday after a one-month tour throughout the state.

State executive councillor for youth development Mohd Khairuddin Othman said 642 other individuals were called for a second interview.

He said the programme gave participants a new experience of doing online interviews thus providing them new skills in a different environment.

“The programme helps those who lost their jobs or whose income was affected following the Covid-19 situation so that they get a second chance.

“Many more wanted to attend the interviews but we had to limit the number in adherence to the National Security Council order,” he told SelangorKini.

The ‘Jelajah Selangor Bekerja 2020’ programme organised by the state government received 9,969 applications since its registration opened on September 15.

A total of 105 employers participated in the tour series that started in Kuala Selangor on November 15, Gombak (November 21), Sungai Buloh (November 22), Hulu Langat (November 29) and Shah Alam (December 5 and 6).

Among the employment offered were professor, lecturer, Quran tutors, accountant, sales manager, research officer, technician, meter reader, call centre operator, terminal tractor driver, supervisor and storekeeper.
