Budget for Mosti passed at committee stage

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 7 — The allocation for the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) under the 2021 Budget was passed at the committee stage at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.

The Supply Bill 2021 for the ministry was passed by a majority voice vote after being debated by ten government and opposition members of parliament (MPs).

Among the MPs involved in the debate were Bakri MP Yeo Bee Yin; Kuala Selangor MP Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad; Arau MP Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassin; Sibuti MP Lukanisman Awang Sauni; and Dungun MP Wan Hassan Mohd Ramli.

Earlier, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin when winding up the debate for the ministry touched on several issues including the embracing of science, technology and innovation, cabotage, vaccines and SilTerra Sdn Bhd.

On SilTerra, Khairy said the government was preparing a memorandum to make a stand on national interests before deciding on the future of the local semiconductor company.
