KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 11 — The number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia remained at four digits with 1,810 new cases recorded today with six more deaths, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
It brings the overall number of cases in the country to 80,309 with 12,734 active cases, while the number of deaths due to the pandemic so far is 402.
“Of the new cases, 11 are imported cases from abroad, while 1,799 are local transmissions,” he said in a statement on the latest Covid-19 situation here today.
Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor recorded the most with 829 cases, followed by 532 cases in Sabah and the 132 cases in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
While the number of recovered cases was 937 bringing the number of cured and discharged cases to 67,173 and so far, there are 123 positive cases being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of which 63 need respiratory assistance, he said.
Apart from Selangor, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur which recorded high number of cases, Pahang recorded 96 cases, Johor (69), Negeri Sembilan (64) and Penang (34).
Kedah recorded 22 cases, Perak (12), Labuan (eight), Melaka (five), while Kelantan, Terengganu and Putrajaya recorded two cases each and Sarawak one.
Of the six deaths, five were reported in Sabah and one in Penang. The deceased, three men and three women, were aged between 63 and 81 years. They were all Malaysians.
