PUCHONG, Dec 18 — The Selangor government is considering a proposal to give a one-off incentive assistance to school bus operators in Selangor who were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
State executive councillor for public transportation Ng Sze Han said the group has lost their source of income due to school closures following enforcement of the movement control order (MCO) in March.
“Today, I met with school bus drivers to hear their concerns and they are hoping for some assistance to lighten their burden.
“I understand their difficulty and this matter will be conveyed to the Menteri Besar in the State Executive Council meeting,” said Ng at a food items contribution programme at the Kinrara Constituency Community Centre today.
Ng hoped all the state representatives will take the initiative to assist affected school bus operators in their constituency.
Schools were closed following the MCO that started on March 18 until 31 and were reopened in stages on July 15.
However, the rise in Covid-19 cases resulted in another nationwide school closure from November 9 to the last day of schooling and will reopen in January 2021.
