FAM technical and development dept gets three new unit heads

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 — The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) yesterday announced the appointment of three new unit heads for their Technical and Development Department.

FAM, in a statement yesterday, said former technical director Lim Kim Chong, who is also a consultant with world football governing body FIFA and Asian Football Confederation (AFC), has been appointed as FAM’s head of Coaching Education Unit, replacing Australian Davil Abela.

Kim Chon, 65, who holds a Pro Licence, has extensive experience in the field of coaching education and had served the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) previously.

The other appointment sees former national player Mohamed Razip Ismail being named head of FAM’s Youth Unit, filling the vacancy left by Datuk Ong Kim Swee, who is now FAM’s assistant technical director.

Meanwhile, former 1Malaysia Cardiff City Football Academy chief operating officer Cameron Leon Ng replaces Samuel Siew as head of the Grassroots Unit.

In a separate development, former national and FIFA referee Nagor Amir Noor Mohamed has been appointed as manager of Referee Development and Professional Referee in FAM.

The 37-year-old, who won the 2013 Best National Referee Award, will be responsible for managing various referee development programmes, including the Malaysia Professional Referee System (MProRS).

Nagor Amir, who reported for duty this month, will be assisted by 14 state referee development officers appointed by their respective state football associations to launch performance monitoring matters and referee development programmes nationwide.
