Indonesian man detained for trying to bribe policeman

MERSING, Dec 14 — An Indonesian man was detained after he tried to bribe a policeman at a roadblock in Jalan Endau-Rompin, here, on Saturday.

Mersing district police chief, Superintendent Cyril Edward Nuing said in the incident about 5.45pm, the policeman on duty stopped a white Perodua Bezza car being driven in a suspicious manner.

“The initial investigation found an Indonesian man and a woman, aged 28 and 43 respectively, in the car and the suspect failed to show any personal documents.

“The man then offered the policeman RM250 to avoid law enforcement action but was arrested together with the woman for investigation and further action,” he told Bernama, here.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 6(1)(C) of the Immigration Act and Section 214 of the Penal Code.
