KPS Junior Cycling Programme to unearth young talent

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 19 — Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (KPS) is determined to unearth the country’s young cycling talents by organising the KPS Junior Cycling Programme.

Its investor relations and strategic communications associate director, Mohd Fauzi Mohd Ghazali said the programme is targeting teenagers under 14 years old.

“We have received applications from 25 children but only 15 were selected in October to participate in the eight-week programme,” he told Bernama.

He said the programme will be conducted every Saturday from 8am to noon, involving classroom learning sessions.

“We want the young cyclists to know the basics of cycling including safety tips on the road which is an important matter in this activity,” he said.

Mohd Fauzi said KPS Junior Cycling Programme was one of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities carried out by the company to scout  for young talents in sports such as badminton and swimming.

He added the cycling programme was conducted by Mohd Sabri Md Taib from the cycling club, Clever Speda as well as experienced coaches including former cycling athlete, Mohd Yafiz Jamaludin and students from UiTM Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation (FSR).

“Our target for this first group is to highlight their talents to be trained in the next programme and for selection to represent Selangor,” he said.
