Maximum price scheme for Christmas takes effect from Dec 22 – 31, involving 19 items

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 18 — The Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) for Christmas this year will take effect from December 22 to 31, involving 19 essential festive season items, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi announced today.

“The scheme will be effective three days before Christmas, on the day of Christmas (December 25), and six days after the festival.

“Although this year’s Christmas Day will be celebrated on a moderate-scale according to the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the government (to curb the spread of Covid-19), the demand for essential items for Christmas is still expected to rise compared to during non-festive season,” he said when announcing the scheme via the ministry’s Facebook Live app today.
