MOF: Sales tax exemption for vehicles extended to June 31 next year

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 — The Finance Ministry (MOF) yesterday announced the car sales tax exemption which is ending on December 31, has been extended for six months to June 30 2021.

In a statement, MOF said the 100 per cent sales tax exemption would be on completely knocked-down (CKD) passenger vehicles including MPV and SUV.

“There will be a 50 per cent sales tax exemption on completely built-up (CBU) passenger vehicles including new and used MPV and SUV,” it said.

The government had earlier announced sales tax exemption for the purchase of new vehicles from June 15 to December 31 2020.
