Break-in report leads to arrest of man with 20 previous convictions

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 Jan — A local man with 20 previous criminal convictions, was arrested yesterday at Dataran C180 in Cheras here, on suspicion of being involved in a car break-in incident.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said the man who is in his 40s, was arrested at 12.30am after a 25-year-old man lodged a report that his car was broken into last Saturday.

“Public tip-off led to the suspect’s arrest and on checking, it was found that he has a criminal record which includes burglary and theft in several areas,” he said in a statement issued today.

Mohd Zaid said police were conducting further investigations into the suspect’s involvement in the car break-in incident under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
