Covid-19: RTK-Ag screening ready to be extended to other sectors

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Jan 8 — Covid-19 screening using antigen rapid test kit (RTK-Ag) is ready to be extended to the corporate sector including foreign workers in the construction and manufacturing industry in Selangor.

Selcare Clinic Sdn Bhd manager Mohd Noor Md Nasir said the targeted screening should be intensified as many new cases were detected among foreigners that later spread into community areas.

“This matter will be discussed with the state government. If the initiative to conduct screening to related sectors is accepted, we can assist as a panel.

“We targetted these groups as their compliance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) are weak. So the Selcare Clinic medical staff will go to each factory to conduct screening,” he said.

He told this to the media during the free Covid-19 Community Screening programme organised by the state government at the Dewan Azalea, in Section 25, here yesterday.

Mohd Noor added that the clinic owned by state government subsidiary, Selgate Healthcare Sdn Bhd may charge a minimum fee to the relevant companies if the proposal is agreed.

“However, all decisions depend on the state government. We can only suggest as in the past screenings on employees from these sectors have been made with a fee, ”he said.
