Datuk, friend remanded over assault at PJ restaurant

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — A 42-year-old Datuk and his friend have been remanded for two days from today on suspicion of assaulting and threatening a man at a restaurant in Tropicana Avenue, Petaling Jaya here, on Tuesday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the remand application for the Datuk and his friend, 39, was made at the Petaling Jaya court today.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that the suspects, both businessmen, were drunk during the incident and the case was investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code.

Initial investigation found one of the suspects had allegedly assaulted a restaurant patron who told him he was talking way too loud.
