Ikea Damansara confirms Covid-19 cases, closed indefinitely

SHAH ALAM, Jan 2 — Ikea Damansara announced its closure from today till further notice due to confirmed Covid-19 positive cases involving its store co-workers and service partners.

In a statement issued on its Facebook page today, Ikea Damansara said the cases were detected during their scheduled routine tests.

“We have been advised by the Health Ministry (MOH) this morning to close our store from today until further notice to undergo full contact tracing and sanitisation in accordance to MOH’s standards,” said the statement.

The Swedish furniture brand said customers who are believed to be close contacts will be contacted by public health officials.

Ikea Damansara said they are working closely with the authorities and will act accordingly on their advice.

“We will continue to work closely with the public health officials and do our part by securing all necessary preventive measures across our stores,” said the statement.

The store said the health, safety and overall well-being of its customers, co-workers, partners and community is their top priority.

IKEA’s Damansara outlet had previously closed for a day on November 7 last year after one of its part-time workers was suspected to be Covid-19 positive.
