KRT to produce 400,000 PPE sets by end of February

PUTRAJAYA, Jan 21 — A total of 400,000 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be produced by the Rukun Tetangga (KRT) areas by the end of February for the use of the Health Ministry (MOH) frontliners, said National Unity Minister Datuk Halimah Mohamed Sadique.

She said that her ministry had channelled an allocation of RM1.55 million to 115 KRTs nationwide to produce PPE sets including isolation gown, cap, shoes cover, boot cover and face shield during the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) in May last year.

As at January 4, a total of 176,043 PPE sets have been produced by KRTs in 13 states for the use of MOH frontliners, she said in statement today.

“The initiative of the Ministry of National Unity through its KRT unity machinery is the local community voluntary effort to help supply the PPE sets to frontliners in carrying out their duties,” she said.

She added that the KRT’s PPE production initiative will be carried out continuously according to current needs.
