MPK closes down 37 factories for breaching SOP compliance

SHAH ALAM, Jan 29 — The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has shut down 37 factories following their failure to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the movement control order (MCO).

MPK president Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin said the closures were made following checks that were carried out at 104 premises along with the Klang District Health Office since March last year until Wednesday.

“A more stringent measure was taken against the factories seeing that workers in this sector had contributed to the rise in Covid-19 cases in Klang,” Dr Ahmad Fadzli told SelangorKini.

He said the SOP-compliance monitoring operations were expanded to industrial areas after the sector was allowed to operate as usual.

“We had made four risk evaluations before taking action, which include risk assessment of infection in the workplace or workers’ dormitories, as well as environmental and human-related factors.

“What follows is the self-control habits or practices among workers and across companies as well as the action plan procedures upon the occurrence of a breakout among workers,” he said.
