RM73.9 mln allocated for Kita Selangor Package to assist during MCO

SHAH ALAM, Jan 20 — The state government has announced several initiatives for the people of Selangor in its Kita Selangor Package to help the people manage during the movement control order (MCO) 2.0 period as well as the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a special address today announcing the initiatives with a total allocation of RM73.877 million, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said among the efforts include the use of the Home Surveillance Kit SELangkah for Covid-19 patients to enable self-monitoring of health condition from home.

“The Selangor government has upgraded the function of the SELangkah mobile application through Selcare Healthcare to enable Covid-19 patients to self-monitor their conditions from home.

“For patients in Category 1 and Category 2, they will be placed under ‘Home Isolation and Monitoring’. They will receive a ‘Home Care Package’ from the state government where their health status will be evaluated continuously through the SELangkah application from Day 1 to Day 10,” said Amirudin.

Further elaborating, Amirudin said that the health status will be delivered online to the Operation Centre located at the Selangor State Secretariat Building and monitored by a group of medical officers.

“Any patients whose health status has deteriorated will be detected by the Operation Centre and be sent for treatment at the hospital,” he said adding that the system was developed in collaboration with the University of Malaya in line with the Health Ministry (MOH) guidelines.

Other initiatives announced include the following:

RM3 million to provide food supply for frontliners

The state government will provide food supply assistance to all 9,822 health district medical officers in Selangor as well as 3,500 policemen and army personnels carrying out their duties at roadblocks during the MCO.

Transportation assistance for low-risk Covid-19 patients

The Smart Selangor buses will be mobilised to ferry Covid-19 patients to the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) for free.

This initiative is taken to reduce the load of the MOH and cut down Covid-19 patients’ waiting time.

Special allocation for the Mesra Rakyat Programme

RM100,000 has been approved to be disbursed immediately to all 56 state constituencies for the Mesra Rakyat programme, which include distribution of basic necessities such as rice, cooking oil, flour, canned food and others.

Selangor MPs also receive RM50,000 each for the same purpose

Exemption and deferment of rental payment for public housing projects (PPR), Council Homes and Smart Rental Scheme

The implementation of one-month rental payment exemption for January 2021 as well as the deferment of rental payment for the next two months (February and March 2021).

This involves a cost of RM1.7 million and benefits 2,361 PPR tenants.

A three-month rental deferment which involves a total cost of RM1 million will also benefit 450 tenant units under the Smart Rental Scheme from January to March 2021.

Yayasan Selangor education loan write-off

The loans of 762 Yayasan Selangor borrowers were written off involving a total of RM7.177 million in financial implication to the state government.

RM1.3 million for food baskets

The state government will contribute food baskets containing daily necessities to taxi drivers, school bus drivers, PPR tenants, Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad Waste Management (KDEBWM) solid waste lorry drivers and the Orang Asli community

RM2 million in agriculture community assistance

To safeguard the integral role of the agriculture community in ensuring ‘food security’, the state government will provide RM300 vouchers to each fishermen for their petrol use; poultry feed and farming input will be channelled to poultry and aquaculture entrepreneurs and food baskets as well as raw ingredients to the overall 10,160 members of the agriculture community

RM1 million Frontliners Child Care Initiative for 400 families of frontliners

The opening of temporary childcare centres (taska) at public hospitals and temporary premises to look after the children of frontliners.

Frontliners working to combat the Covid-19 pandemic at the Selangor State Health Department and hospitals as well as the police and armed forces can send their children to the taska and temporary childcare centres for free for a duration of two months beginning January 25. The initiative will benefit 400 families.

RM300,000 Selangor Online Tuition Centre Portal (e-PTRS)

Launched on January 16, the state education portal ePTRS.my is a digital platform that provides online interactive learning sessions for candidates of the major Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examinations.

The portal offers study contents in the form of interactive videos for the Bahasa Melayu, English, Science, Mathematics and History subjects for SPM candidates; and the Pengajian Am and Malaysian University English Test (MUET) subjects for STPM candidates.

As of January 19, a total of 3,755 registrants have signed up to use the PTRS portal which includes users from outside of Selangor.
