SHAH ALAM, JAN 27 — The Selangor government has extended financial assistance to two states, Pahang and Terengganu, that were severely hit by recent floods.

A total of RM1 million was given to Pahang while Terengganu received RM500,000 through the Kita Selangor Package announced last week on January 20.

The contribution was handed over virtually by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari to Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

Amirudin in his speech conveyed the Selangor government’s commitment to continue assisting any state affected by natural disasters in the future.

He said, all parties should instil values of humanity that transcend borders during critical times by helping out as much as possible.

“I, on behalf of the people of Selangor, sympathise with the mishap that has befallen the states especially when they are already trying to heal from post-disaster. Therefore, we hope this assistance would lighten their burden.

“The Selangor government is ready to instruct volunteers from the Local Youth Movement (PeBT) to assist the affected states,” he said via a video conference.

The state administration had announced the #KitaSelangor Flood Assistance contribution totaling an amount of RM2 million to three East Coast states that were affected by flash floods, including Kelantan received its contribution virtually yesterday evening.
