Selangor education portal benefits students, should be expanded

SHAH ALAM, Jan 23 — The Selangor education portal eptrs.my should be expanded throughout the state due to its immense benefit offered to the students, says the National Parents-Teacher Associations Consultative Council (PIBGN).

Professor Datuk Mohamad Ali Hasan said the Selangor government’s initiative allows Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) candidates access to additional study material for their examinations.

“We welcome the state government’s move to launch the portal and hope the initiative would be easily accessible to students and ensure that those from rural areas are able to access it,” he said when contacted.

Mohamad Ali also advised the Selangor administration to select skilled and experienced teachers with expertise in the subjects being taught to manage the portal.

“This is to ensure that the effort is worth the while. Qualified and exceptional teachers can help facilitate the success of students and this is what we all want,” he said.

On January 16, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari had launched the eptrs.my online tuition portal which is equipped with learning sessions for Bahasa Malaysia, English, Science, Mathematics and History for SPM students, as well as the Pengajian Am (General Studies) and the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for STPM students to help facilitate their studies.

Through the portal, students have the opportunity to participate in interactive question and answer sessions with teachers aside from enabling them to revise their studies.

It also prepares a special programme called ‘Program Pecutan Akhir’ (Final Acceleration Programme) to help exam candidates master their subjects more quickly.
