KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 — Selangor Football Club (Selangor FC) are planning to play seven friendly matches as part of the team’s preparation for the 2021 Super League competition which will commence on February 27.
Selangor FC head coach Karsten Neitzel said he was delighted with the team’s management for giving him full support to prepare a good side for this season.
“Selangor FC management has given us a good opportunity to prepare for this season, and we will use it to the fullest,” the German-born coach was quoted as saying in the Selangor FC website www.selangorfc.com.
In this regard, Neitzel was pleased with the commitment displayed by his charges including a couple of new faces during the team’s first-day training at the Football Association of Selangor (FAS) Training Centre in Shah Alam on Monday.
Selangor FC have roped in national striker Muhammad Shahrel Fikri Md Fauzi from Perak, R Dinesh and Nik Muhammad Sharif Haseefy Mohd Lazim (both from Pahang), and Tim Heubach from Germany for the new season.
Neitzel was appointed as the new head coach of Selangor FC, replacing B Sathianathan, whose contract was not extended this season.
Selangor FC finished fifth out of 12 teams in last season’s Super League by amassing 17 points from 11 matches.
