By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Jan 13 — The Selangor Digital e-Supply Chain (Seldec) will be offering express delivery service of freshly cooked meals in the Klang Valley beginning this year.

Its business development general manager Mohd Fauzan Elham said the delivery network has been expanded following high demand and is capable of creating wider job opportunities, in which empowers the digital economy sector.

He said the online portal and the Seldec Rider application system are currently being upgraded to include the additional component on the platforms.

“We received many requests, the majority of whom are entrepreneurs who joined the Selangor Ramadan e-bazaar programme last year and are keen on managing such business.

“Before this, the customers had to pre-order (food) a day before it is delivered, but this time it will be delivered on the same day with the new freshly cooked food category,” he said.

Mohd Fauzan was speaking after the presentation session on this year’s direction for the development of entrepreneurs led by state executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail at the De’ Palma Hotel here on Tuesday.

Mohd Fauzan said it is expected that the number of new micro-entrepreneurs signing up for the business line to increase by fourfold this year as compared to 800 at present.

He said the target takes into consideration the cooperation alongside Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) to bring in around 4,000 entrepreneurs as part of the pilot project for the digital economy.

Seldec, which is spearheaded by Selangor Industrial Corporation Sdn Bhd, was launched on June 24, 2020, connects buyers and sellers directly via its portal link: https://www.seldec.com.my/en.
