KUALA LANGAT, Jan 3 — The service stint for 278 leads of the Village Community Management Councils (MPKK) in Selangor, which was scheduled to end last December, has been extended until a new government is formed.
State executive councillor for rural development and traditional villages Borhan Aman Shah said the remaining 93 candidates will be selected after undergoing an interview session.
“I have instructed my staff to submit the forms immediately to the respective districts so that new candidates can attend the interview process and appointments can be made after they are identified.
“We do not want to make appointments without interviews to avoid making any mistakes or having any loopholes such as appointing someone who is facing bankruptcy or has criminal records,” he told reporters after contributing food supplies at the Kampung Seri Jugra MPKK Community Hall.
He said the candidate must also be assessed from the physical aspect on whether he/she is able to undertake the role.
The Tanjung Sepat representative added that the MPKK chairman plays an important role of ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the community.
“Every activity, whether it is from the state assembly or member of parliament (MP), these chairmen (village heads) must be active in their work aside from just being advisers to the mosque,” he said.
“Therefore, I hope this interview process will enable us to find the best candidates to assume the responsibility as best as possible.”
