Smart Selangor bus to ferry Covid-19 patients to quarantine centre

SERDANG, Jan 19 — Smart Selangor buses will be used to transport Covid-19 patients from their house to the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the use of the free shuttle bus service is currently under assessment to reduce the patients’ waiting time at home before they are sent to the quarantine centre.

“Patients are complaining they had to wait at home for a long time although their time has come to be sent to the quarantine centre, but because the daily cases in the Klang Valley have risen over the past three weeks, the patient-delivery service too is insufficient,” he said.

Amirudin was met after the briefing and visit to the quarantine centre alongside State Secretary Dato’ Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya.

Also present were Selangor State Health Department director Datuk Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman and PKRC MAEPS 2.0 director Dr Shahabuddin Ibrahim.

On April 2 last year, the state government introduced the Smart Selangor Bus service to transport passengers arriving at the airport to quarantine centres.

The service commenced following the government’s instruction to ensure passengers arriving at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the Subang Airport undergo compulsory quarantine at designated locations before they can be released home to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
