SHAH ALAM, Jan 30 — The Selangor government aims to guide 3,000 individuals to adapt to digitalisation this year.

State executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail said the Selangor Digital Partner initiative helps entrepreneurs and senior citizens to benefit from technology for day-to-day tasks.

Rodziah said the programme, which is part of the state’s 2020 Economic Recovery Plan, is expected to be launched in February in collaboration with public universities and non-governmental organisations.

“Opportunities are also available for social media influencers or guides who are interested to register with the programme at the Pembangunan Usahawan Negeri Selangor (Selangor State Entrepreneurs Development) Facebook page to help these targeted groups,” she said on a talk show programme on Facebook last night.

She said local authorities are also responsible for implementing initiatives to guide entrepreneurs using suitable training modules.

“We will start at local councils with city status followed by the rest until we achieve the targeted number of entrepreneurs,” Rodziah said.

The Selangor Digital Partner initiative was introduced during the Belanjawan Selangor 2021 (2021 Selangor Budget) to assist senior citizens and micro entrepreneurs to adapt to digitalisation.

RM3 million was allocated for the initiative to appoint 1,000 individuals to guide the general public in terms of digital application usage especially among the business community, senior citizens and tertiary education students.
