STFC: Govt must impose proactive measures to curb workplace Covid-19 transmission

By Khairul Azran Hussin

SHAH ALAM, Jan 29 — The Selangor Task Force for Covid-19 (STFC) has urged the Federal government to be more proactive in preventing transmission of Covid-19 in the workplace.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the Preventing Outbreak at Ignition Sites (POIS) programme, which was implemented in the state, can be used as a reference.

“The POIS committee involves integrated collaboration between the Selangor government, employers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“We identify high-risk areas, draft an emergency plan, carry out quick screening and ensure compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs),” said Dr Dzulkefly on the Bicara Covid-19 programme on Facebook last night.

The former Health Minister said new ways of curbing the spread of the pandemic must be executed, especially when the vaccination programme is expected only to take place in another 18 months.

“A lot of things can happen within that time frame, therefore it is very important for the country to evaluate new strategies as well as ramp up the capacity in public health services,” he said.
