Use of CEPat app at Selangor’s local councils to be in stages

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Jan 12 — The use of the ‘Scan to Ride’ system through the Citizen E-Payment Platform (CEPat) will be expanded across all local authorities in Selangor.

State executive councillor for public transportation Ng Sze Han said as of now, the local authorities that have started using the system are Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj).

“We will implement this throughout the state’s local councils in stages within the next three years,” Ng told SelangorKini.

He said the public, especially users of the Smart Selangor Bus, are encouraged to download the CEPat mobile application via Playstore and AppStore.

This is because the users would not be able to ride the bus if they do not scan the QR code beginning January next year (2022).

The ‘Scan to Ride’ system enables users to pay for bus fares via card or by scanning the QR code. The effort is in line with the state government’s aim to propel Selangor towards becoming a cashless society as well as a Smart State by 2025.
