Aid for OKU children in Selangor include therapy class fees

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, Feb 16 — Recipients of the Selangor Special Aid for Special Children (Anis) or ‘Bantuan Khas Anak Istimewa Selangor’ are eligible for various privileges including class fees as well as medical equipment.

Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (Yawas) assistant corporate manager Sharizan Mohd Shariff said wheelchairs and beds are also provided if an application is made.

“Other assistance includes medicine, supplements and health needs depending on the existing needs and provisions.

“However the equipment and assistance will only be handed after we receive the advice and briefing from the hospitals,” he said when contacted today.

Sharizan said since its introduction in 2019, Anis has allocated more than RM450,000 to finance the health needs of children who are Persons with Disabilities (OKU).

“Last year, we assisted 367 recipients and these contributions will be continued as an effort to help the special children without marginalising this group,” he said.

Starting from Monday, people with OKU children aged below 18 can start applying online at the website http://www.anis.yawas.my.

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari while tabling the 2021 Selangor Budget announced allocation amounting to RM3.25 million for the entire programme and initiatives to empower the OKU including holding support awareness seminars for special children.
