Air Selangor plans new water treatment plant downstream of Sungai Klang

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Feb 13 — Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) plans to build a new water treatment plant (WTP) downstream of Sungai Klang.

The water operator informed that the construction of the WTP will provide additional water supply to consumers in the future.

“The water abstraction from Sungai Klang is actually aimed at optimising the use of raw water resources downstream without it being wasted into the sea.

“It is in line with the latest trend of global water operator that also abstract raw water from downstream and then treat it biologically at the detention pond before being treated at the nearby WTP,” the agency said on Facebook.

The statement was made following doubts from many social media users over the water quality of Sungai Klang to be used as a new water source in the future.

Meanwhile, when contacted a spokesperson for Air Selangor said further development related to the matter will be announced soon.
