PETALING JAYA, Feb 4 — Food contribution to 8,432 KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) field workers is expected to end this week.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the assistance in the form of rice to the lorry drivers, collection crews and public cleaners was distributed since last week through the branch offices of 12 local authorities.

“We help them as best we can and hope this contribution will last for a month or two. Before this, we gave them tea, coffee, sugar and milk.

“We will see what other assistance we can provide them for the following month until the end of the year,” Ramli said during the waste management programme at the Lembah Subang 1 People’s Housing Project (PPR) here yesterday.

On January 20, Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced the allocation of a total of RM1.3 million to implement food basket initiatives for residents affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Amirudin said the assistance through the Kita Selangor Package will be distributed to taxi drivers, school bus drivers, PPR tenants, Orang Asli as well as KDEBWM solid waste management lorry drivers and personnel.
