Gas Malaysia extends waiver for selected customers until March

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 — Gas Malaysia Bhd is extending the waiver of natural gas charges for government hospitals, selected government quarters and public housing amid the prolonged movement control order.

In a statement today, Gas Malaysia group chief executive officer Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap said as an essential services provider, the company provides a critical role in facilitating relief measures and assisting those whose livelihoods are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The waiver is extended for three months, from January to March 2021, to help ease the monthly gas charges and provide flexibility for our customers in navigating this trying period,” he said.

The natural gas distribution company said the gas bill issued to these selected customers will be given a 100 per cent discount until March.

The initiative, undertaken by its wholly owned Gas Malaysia Energy and Services Sdn Bhd, is a continuous effort from the previous Covid-19 relief measures focusing on government hospitals as well as residential customers targeting the B40 and M40 income groups.
