Good governance in Selangor administration an example for other states

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Feb 10 — Selangor has set a good example in its administration that should be emulated by other states.

Selangor Investment, Industry and Trade, Small and Medium Industries Committee chairman Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said 10 committees were established to provide an extensive check and balance on the development of the state as well as the welfare of its people.

“The people can see the role played by their state assemblymen even though the government supporters are so critical and vocal.

“Thus, this is an advantage over other states and the lesson that can be learnt is that we have the right conditions to get better revenue sharing allocation from the Federal,” said Teng.

Teng said this during a webinar series on Zoom last night titled ‘Income Tax Revenue for States Too: Can Malaysia Learn from Indonesia?’.

The webinar organised by Wisdom Foundation was moderated by its executive chairman Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau and joined by panellists Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas) chief executive officer Tricia Yeoh and its Public Finance Unit manager Sri Murniati.
